Who we are
The Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Christ are a religious order in the Catholic Church. We were founded by an Irish Missionary Most Rev. Dr Charles Heerey C. S. Sp in Nigeria, on October 7th 1937. Being a missionary himself he desired that we be missionaries. In the early 1900s women were neglected and excluded from educational and social benefits. Our founder was moved with compassion to the plight of these underprivileged women. This inspired him to found an indigenous women religious congregation that would take care of the needs of women and children. This care should be holistic in nature: educational, social, medical, and spiritual.
Apostolate
Our Founder's concern for the status of women, his compassion for the underprivileged, the sick, and children led him to found a religious congregation of women. Faithful to our patrimony of compassion we have responded to the needs of the present time through these various apostolates:
Teaching
Medical work
Pastoral work
Social work
